To better understand how Numerology works, let's start with a little background here on calculations and other general aspects of Numerology. Note: The form of Numerology being used here is Pythagorean Numerology. To start you need to understand that letters have corresponding numbers. Each letter is then converted into a number for calculation purposes. Also, all double digits are 'digited down'. digiting down is adding the all the numbers together until a single digit is reached. Example: You add all the numbers in a name together and they add up to 156. Since this is not yet a single digit, these numbers themselves must be 'digited down' to created a single digit. To do this you just add those three digits together, 1+5+6=12. Again we have yet to reach a single digit, so you digit down again, 1+2=3. now you have your final number, 3. In Pythagorean numerology there are only single digits, 1-9, plus 2 master numbers 11 & 22. Over the years the number 33 has come to also be considered a master number. Many would argue still that all double digits are master numbers, yet originally there were only the two. Some also argue that all numbers, all numbers without being digited down, should be used. This, however, would not actually be Pythagorean Numerology. All numbers are important. All numbers have meaning. Even in the numbers before you 'digit down' you will find more subtle information on the area you are looking at, but this will be covered in a subsequent article. For now, lets get back to the basics. The Letters and their Numbers
The following list is how to associate numbers to letters. * Please note that the K and the V are not digited down and left with their original 11 and 22 respectively. Now that you know what letters are associated to which number, you have the ability to start your calculations. There are lots of different calculations in Numerology. Here are some of the more basic ones. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 a b c d e f g h ij k* l m n o p q r s t u v* w x y z The most basic calculation to start with is the your birth date. Called your Life Path. This is the path you were set upon when you entered this life. This is calculated just like anything else, using the individual digits, adding them together and digiting them down. So, lets look at the birth date of Cathy Sanchez (random name - no one in particular). Let us say she was born on June 20th, 1954. So you would add together the full date, 6-20-1954, which would give you 27, then 2+7 gives you 9. Life Path = 9 Her entire life will be on the path of the 9. How she follows that, lives it, etc., is all up to her, but it is the core of her path in this life. The next most common calculations are... The Expression - Uses all they letters in your name. These use all the letters in your "Full Birth Name", even if you do not use that name anymore, or it was changed later (adoption, marriage, etc.). The name you are given at birth is something that is carried with you your whole life. That energy doesn't change. Even if you name was originally Baby Girl Johnson on your birth certificate, that is the original name. New names, no matter the type, are additions to you, but they do not change the core. Example: If you are born Samantha Catherine Johnson (again random name - no one in particular), that name is the original you. No matter if you like the name or not, it actually 'is' you. Now if you marry and change your name to Samantha Catherine Sanchez, but you go by Cathy Sanchez and people call you Cat. All of these are additions to the original you. So they would be changes you have added to yourself and your life. Call them new layers. However, they would not change the core you. That is always there. So let's look at Samantha here. Her original name looks like this... S a m a n t h a C a t h e r i n e J o h n s o n Expression = 102 / 3 When Calculating it is often best to leave all the numbers shown (before you digit down) as to be able to look at the subtler aspects of a name and also for certain calculations the full number will be needed. Yet when she changes her name to Sanchez it changes the numbers to... S a m a n t h a C a t h e r i n e S a n c h e z Expression = 101 / 2 Adding another layer to her, on top of her core numbers. The additions of the name she goes by and her nick name would also add other layers. C a t h y S a n c h e z Expression = 52 / 7 C a t Expression = 6 And yet, with all these additions and changes, the core name, the core person, stays the same. When you start to calculate these for yourself and others, it will help you see some of the differences in them when they are around different people and being called different things. There are other factors, of course, to these changes, but the names and numbers play a very significant role. Another note on Master Numbers. When you are looking at them in any calculation, it is wise to look at them as both their original double digit master number as well as the digited down version (i.e. 11 and 2 or 22 and 4) as both numbers will have an effect, making those areas both more interesting and more complicated. Try looking at these areas of your life for yourself. See how these numbers have changed, and added layers, to your own life. Happy Calculating! Peace To You, An Enchanted Spirit |
